A Matter Of Words - Part 2

Some of you may remember this post. I wasn't too thrilled with with some parts of the pattern and working with the knit. I really did like the shirt (turns out there are tiny holes from where I had to rip out stitches - right where the pleats are - can't wear the shirt - thought it would correct itself in the wash ... it didn't. bummer.) Sooooo any-who, I decided to give it another go. This time armed with the experience of making it once already, this tutorial (thank you Kris), and cotton fabric. I did have to take in the sides a bit and did not add the tie to the shirt ... it's maternity enough looking! (no, I'm not pregnant!)

I've already worn it once and can't wait to wash it and wear it again! DH was at a loss for words and then said "That's probably the best thing you've made." Ahh ... gee, thanks honey. The fabric was originally destine to become napkins and placements similar to these. It just never happened. So funny the fabric turned out to have ... shall we say ... good shirt karma!

I do want to ... hmm ... become friends? with knit. It's another world to me and I want to figure it out - especially if the sewing clothes is going to stick. I am drooling over Wendy's new book. I have a birthday coming up ... I might just have to put in a request for this one. As an added incentive to sew (as if I need any) the new sew-along is a skirt - any skirt - and the prize ... Wendy's new book. I'm in. Hope you will sew-along too; and don't forget to put your skirts (and whatever else you sew for you) on the Mad(d) For Me! flickr group.

That top is so cute. I keep seeing people talk about that book, but I think it might take more than a book for me to get over my fear of knits...
