The State Of Affairs

As if Hurricane Adrienne was not enough for one room to withstand

Tornado Some of a Kind hit.

This my dear friends is the state of my sewing room.

It all began with good intentions you see. I started with the boys room - rearranged their furniture - had some book shelves made to fit into their dormer windows (remember we have a crafty furniture maker friend) - moved their toys in their room - then gave them my two bookshelves from my sewing room (what you see unloaded on my sewing table was the contents of said bookshelves) - brought their old (smaller) bookshelf down to my sewing room - then I had to make room for my books in the sitting room since my "new" bookshelf would not accommodate all my fabric and my collection of craft books that are gathering dust books. Then I had (really - I had to) move the love seat from the sitting room into the sewing room so I could then move Rocky's grandparents drop leaf table that is so precious to us but darn if it gets in the way into the sitting room so we can get a fish tank. Oh - and so that I could move the half wide secretary from the foyer to where the drop leaf table was so that I can make room for the piano that is now still in the sewing room acting more as a tv stand than a piano.

You still with me?

Don't worry. I'm worn out too.

Never mind that each time Rocky moves a piece of furniture he swears that he will not move it (or any other again), or that I have been sick for a week now and still do not seem to be getting over it, or that John just got over pink eye and an ear infection, and that I now have pink eye in both eyes, and while rearranging and stirring up tons of dust and seeing too many things scurry away that my (very expensive and worst purchase I ever made) vacuum has stopped working - again.

Life is good.

Really.

Even if I can't wear mascara for a week ~shudders~.

So. I will gladly take any suggestions you might have regarding vacuum cleaners. The weather systems keep changing around here and I need something reliable to clean up the mess!

Masacara , what's that ? I think the boys would crack up if they ever saw me with make up lol.... At least you have a room to call yours - one day I might show you where all my yarn is stored !! More germs .. hope you all better soon x

We have a dyson and LOVE it...it's heavy (read: it is a tank to carry up the stairs) but the suction power is amazing. I have had it now for 5 years and it still works like new...well except for occasionally it makes this really loud noise across the rugs...don't really know what that's all about but it picks up SO MUCH dirt it's scary. But all in all I would purchase a dyson again.

Sounds like quite the weather system you have down there Adrienne! I'm sure it will clear soon!

I swear by my Dyson. I've had it for over 6 years now and not a single problem with it. I have to say it....please forgive me...my Dyson really SUCKS! Not terminology I would normally use, in the way kids use it today, but in this case, it's very true!

Hope everyone gets healthy again soon!

Oh my....You are in quite a state. But look at it this way: It's January and it's really not worth going anywhere or doing anything else anyhow. Get better. Your house will come together.

I know exactly how you feel.... I am a chronic furniture mover-arounder and my hubby always has the "I'm never moving this again" phrase - but he forgets the next time I batt my eye lashes at him. Pink eye is evil, I used to get it often when I was in high school (as if those years aren't bad enough)so I know your pain, really.
As far as vacuums go, I bought a new one for xmas last year, a Dyson DC23 Motorhead Animal (we have 2 LARGE shedding dogs)and it was the best investment of my life - expensive yes but fabulous - made my life so much easier. here is a link with reviews
http://www.retrevo.com/s/Dyson-DC23-Motorhead-Vacuums-review-manual/id/16562bh651/t/1-2/

I found it has great features like easy convinient attachments, sits on stairs, great suction, easy to clean reusable filter etc.

Hope this helps!

I can relate to your recent storms!

We have a good ole Sears Kenmore vacuum cleaner (we always buy appliances there). It was a mid range model--bought it back in 1998. It's still going great, but probably because it doesn't get used as often as it should.....!

We're remodeling our sixteen year old daughters room so all of her furnicher is in the mud room. She has moved to the basement and the whole house seems messy & disorganized.

You're right - I'm exhausted just reading that. Funny how one furniture move begats so many more! Hope you're feeling better and that darn old pink eye goes away soon. I have to be really careful about what mascara and eyeliners I use or I get pink eye, (really an allergy version of it), so I can totally relate.

My head is spinning just from reading all of that. I don't have a good vacuum either. I so need one with all the dog hair. I am one to move the furniture around too. Always looking for a better way to make things fit.

Oh man, double pink eye?? Hope you're feeling better now, and as for the room I think it's just the sign of a creative mind at work. :)
