Turn The Page ... Tuesday

Remember when I said my timbers were kindled? Well, this is when it all began. The trilogy that is. No not the vampire series (I've still managed to not get sucked into that ... ba da bing ba da boom). The Girl books. You know. The Girl Who ... oh yeah. I stared it at the beach and when my girlfriend and I had to return back to reality (and the Kindle went with her) I had to buy the book. I just couldn't wait on the library ... I mean, I had already started reading it!

I am amazed that I have read over 1200 pages in about a month. Now you know why I haven't been sewing much despite one child being back in school! Now I must say ... be warned. There is an alarming amount of adult 'stuff'. I am typing my words carefully because I do not want some creep stumbling upon my blog. Let's just say there is a lot of heavy R rated material. I was a little surprised (and at times grossed out, shocked, and appalled). That being said - for the most part I actually enjoyed the suspense - the twist and turns - the 'who done it'. Lisbeth Salander, the main character - the girl - will amaze you with her ability to survive, her resilience, and intelligence.

I found myself neglecting laundry and forgetting about dinner while reading these books. I had to know what was goingto happen next - where they going to get caught - would she be ok. You now what they say about Pringles - well these books are the same - you just can't read one. You have to read them all.

Sadly, the author died shortly after turning in his three manuscripts. I will never know the final outcome. We are left wondering, hoping, and thinking - maybe, just maybe ...

I say, if you enjoy a good mystery and can tolerate the language, gender discrimination, and heavy 'adult' activities then you will enjoy these books. How is that for a loaded review!

Don't forget to check out these TTPT reviews!

Wow -- these books sound like winners. But seriously, how can you go on not knowing what happens? Talk about a never-ending cliff-hanger.

Ooooh, I just bought the first "Girl" book... maybe I should have gotten the other two, too. Luckily, I haven't started them yet. Maybe this month? (I herd Larsson's girlfriend has a manuscript for a 4th book, but she can't do anything yet... lawyers and such).

Thanks for sharing your obsession...

I haven't read those books yet, but I have a feeling that this coming winter (with 2, yes, 2!!!) kids in school I'll be curled up on the couch with Steig.

Phil just watched the dragon tattoo movie. He said he thought I'd enjoy it, but he said it was also very upsetting. I tried to check it out at the library, but they didn't have it...maybe too juicy? Dunno, I'll find it somewhere!

Oh, and how'd you like that BSU VT game last night....brag, brag, brag...there was some nail biting around here last night!

Mr. Linky still doesn't like me I think I must be typing in the first part wrong.
These books might be a little to much for me. I like to live in a world with rose colored glass's.

These books have made their way to my house via our son. Hubby has called dibs so I will have to wait my turn!

My daughter has the first two of these books and loved them. I'm going to have to steal them from her, but no finale?! Wow, that might be tough to take.

I did read during August but am a very serious blog slacker these days, so haven't yet posted. I may just have to skip it this month and join in again next.
