The State of Affairs :: Take Two

Thank you all for the virtual hugs you gave me yesterday. I was so frustrated. I tried three more times after my whinny post and still didn't get the job done. Finally, late last night my pictures posted.

We are in the middle of updating a few things around here. I am the general contractor (and I haven't a clue - pray for me). This is the state of affairs at the Some of a Kind household ...

My dining room

That is an island for the middle of my kitchen and the cabinet on the left will slide under our bar for extra storage.

My kitchen

Our missing Chippendale door and the old trim color

It was ripped off when we were trying to carry the island in. Oops.

The new paint color

Only the second coat to go and many more windows and doors ...

My new fridge

Already covered in art. It's just perfect!
So you see my friends, my house is a wreck and is going to be for a while (we are also waiting for a new stove to then replace counter tops and convert our office into a laundry room). We have been waiting (and saving) since we moved into this house over 5 years ago to do these projects ... and now here we are and I have come to realize that I don't have the mental energy to get into my sewing space. It's bitter sweet. Great things are happening so I can't complain. I have had my nose in a few books - that seems to be easier to pick up and put down then sewing right now.

So, I'm here but not fully. I hope you guys will still stop by my virtual space to visit despite the lack of crafty things to share - I'm assuming most of my posts will not be of the 'artsy' nature ... until next time - happy whatevering to you!

Oh my Adrienne! I have to say I'm almost jealous! I do love a good construction, or re-construction, project! It's been 10 years since we had our current home built and I thoroughly enjoyed the entire process. The chaos created by this kind of project is exciting and creative, and doesn't last forever. Enjoy it while it lasts, and then enjoy your beautiful new space. What a bright and happy kitchen you will have in the end! Keep posting pictures too...I don't want to miss a thing!

I don't envy you that. Decorating the whole house twice over has put me off decorating. I love the end results, but the process? Ugh.

Good luck.

I think this is why I read more than craft. Sometimes I read about crafting.
Good luck with your construction.
I'm sure it will be beautifull when it's all done!

Of course I'll stop by to visit and lend you moral support. I wish it could be in person.

You have many wonderful things going on here -- it's going to look awesome when you're done. And think about it....Putting "General Contractor" on the resume is going to look great too.

Your kitchen is going to be fabulous! Oh, but where's the sewing room going to be?

I can't just imagine how crazy and busy things are for you right now. I so want to redo our kitchen but am so not looking forward to what is involved with that project.

Good luck to you. Try to relax even in the midst of that project. Enjoy the reading.

oooh looks great. enjoy the mess and clean fresh paint and especially all the fun you will have in re-organising all your stuff once all the kitchen cupboards are in place.

I love the glimpses we get of your house. It looks so warm and charming. Is it an old house? We had a 1918 Craftsman for a few years and yours really reminds me of it. I want another of that era someday...
