Turn The Page ... Tuesday

Boy oh boy did I enjoy Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day. Not because it was the greatest work of literature ever written - it isn't. Not because it wasn't predictable - it was. Not because it was cynical, twisted, or had a surprise ending - it wasn't. I liked it because it just was down right sweet. This was such a feel good, clean, giggle to your self (or out loud) book.

Miss Pettigrew and the slew of characters you meet along they way will have you cheering for them, embarrassed for them, and hoping that they have more sense than they appear to have. To think to be 40-ish in today's society and be considered dowdy and an old maid ... hog wash! Well, Miss Pettigrew gets to have a second chance at her youth (this tale is set in the glamorous 1930's)- even if it's only for 24 unpredictable hours.

This is my first Persephone Books but it won't be my last! Stay tuned (I am participating in a Persephone Book swap). If you enjoy British writers and want to have a page turner that will have you smiling the whole read - this book is for you.

What have you been reading?

I love cozy British books. Nothing too heavy, just a really nice read. It's a movie too? Sounds perfect for a sick-day, home alone.

Sounds like a completely fun read. I love a sweet innocent read now and then, especially after reading something with that deals with some heavy issues. On the list it goes!

I have actually been reading!!! Well, really listening to books on CD. At the suggestion of a friend I checked some books out at the library on CD. I thought I would hate the experience of listening to books, but I was so very wrong. Maybe I'll even get a post done today.

I've been wanting to read that book--and see the movie, too! Thanks for the review. I'm a day late and a dollar short to participate, but I put up my book post today. Actually, I'm posting about books all month long!
