A good friend had put in a request for a new apron for her daughter's birthday. I wasn't sure what I was going to make (she's 9 but mature beyond her years). Her mom said "She likes toile and all things feminine ... I trust you."
OK. So where to begin. I had in my stash some canvas toile that I had bought at Wal-Mart for under $5 and used a 40% off coupon for JoAnn's to get the denim. Not a bad start.
I had bought McCall's M5643 when JoAnn's had a great .99 cent pattern sale and tucked it way for a rainy day.
I made a version of Posie's Kitchen (view A). I left off the flap detail and made the straps much shorter (I cut them 2" wide and 29" long - folded each side to meet in the center and then folded over and stitched close).
I didn't realize that the apron was lined until I began cutting. I had enough fabric so I decided to make it reversible. This was very fast and fun to make. I think I'll have to make one for me.
Now I just need to call my girlfriend and shout "Order up!"
OK - maybe I won't shout ;-)

Love the apron! And good luck with the Sun Hat pattern... I had been on the fence about how it would turn out but alas, I like it! Enjoy.
LOVE it!!
I think I'll start yelling "Order up" when I serve meals at home! It seems like everyone has some sort of special instructions for their food....and the tips are awful!!
Ahhh, remembering those days when gas was under a dollar!!!
The apron is super cute! I love that it is reversible! I am sure that the recipient will love it!!! ;)
She should love that apron.
