For His Presidental Campaign

I thought this story was appropriate to share today. Hope you have a safe and wonderful 4th of July ~

Not too long ago, Lola...again blogged about a random act of kindness that she had experienced and still thinks of. After reading her post, it reminded me of an experience I had, not once, but twice, approximately two years apart, in the same store, by the same person!

I was in Wal-Mart with Henry. He was just a wee fella at the time ... when an older man approached us and began to chat. Henry being my first born I was still getting used to strangers 'checking out' my kiddo. I was kind but reserved. The next thing I know, the gentleman begins to reach in his pocket as he is saying "I want to give you something ... " You can imagine what was going through my mind. He brings out his wallet. I begin to panic. I can't take money from this man! And then the panic subsides when he hands me a two dollar bill "For your presidential campaign son ... grow up and help make the world better place." WOW. I was speechless.

Fast forward approximately two years. I'm back at Wal-Mart (imagine that) with just John (how did I manage that one?). Just a wee thing himself. The story repeats itself ... except this time no panic.

Note: This is a money body double ... originals were to valuable to hand to a 4 year old. hehe

Amazingly enough, I think I only saw that gentleman maybe 2 or 3 times after I originally met him, until he approached me again with John.

Such a small token of generosity and a lot of faith in the littlest of people - I have each of the boys $2 bills tucked away in our safe deposit box with the date of receipt and what was instructed written on the top ... just in case.

Stories like that warm your heart - and are much more interesting than my $2. I got it in my change and tried to use it in a postage stamp vending machine. It was only when I was complaining to my husband that the machine wouldn't take my money, that I found out that they're not that easy to come by.

Still, I'm not allowed to run for president...

Wow, so cool. I love knowing that there are kind, proactive people like that in the world. In Walmart, no less!
