Speed

I like to take my time. I like to dilly dally - most of the time. I have to admit though - instant gratification has it's place. Like when I felt the need to make something and make it fast. Like in under 30 minutes fast. And for both my boys kinda fast. Speed was of the essense.

Lucky for me one of my sidelined items had most of the prep work done (fabric washed). All I had to do was pull one of Henry's existing pillow cases and make a pattern ... step up to the sewing machine and put the petal to the metal.

Zoom Zoom Zoom.

Henry's bikes are a knit that I had bought in the clearance bin at JoAnn's and John's is flannel of the same origin. The only force working against me was my sewing machine. Time for tune up. My light decided to rock it out to an unfamiliar disco beat. It was a wee bit nauseating. Kind of like driving too fast on a windy mountain road.

Let's hope these new pillowcases help the boys slow down after a busy day and set the cruise control for a long nights rest; and as for my sewing machine ... I think I need to hit the mechanic before my hunk of metal comes to a screeching halt!

very cute - I never did get around to making a pillowcase for Milo - oops ... maybe you could make hints to Santa for a new machine ?

I like them! I have one out of two dinosaur pillowcases made and a motorcycle one waiting in the wings!

I bought material to make pillowcases for my grandsons. You reminded me that it is still waiting to be sewn up... thanks for the reminder!

Such boy pillowcases! I'm sure they love them. Did you see Paula's pillowcases that she made for the children's hospital. Between the two of you, I'm getting inspired to give these a whirl.

cute pillow cases...I understand about the sewing machine...why do they always get temperamental at the wrong time (as if there was a right time!)?...
;)

They should definately have sweet dreams on those new cases. I loved making the ones for the latest craft hope project for that very same instant gratification reason. My 18 year old ended up with new pillowcases on his bed too. Now I maybe needing some...who knew pillowcases could be so fun??

love the pillowcases! The kids have some personalized pillowcases, but we're about to switch rooms around - which means new bedding, I'm sure - time to pick out fabric.

I love the pillowcases, and I love sewing for that very same reason. Sometimes you just gotta have that instant gratification, as opposed to puttering along on the needles for what seems like eternity. (Sound like I've got a couple blankets in progress?? Yep.)
