MmMm Mittens

I finished a pair of mittens for me over the weekend so for those of you in the mid-Atlantic region of the US you can than me for the 'heat wave' we had. You think I'm kidding .. the day I finished it was over 60 degrees here. Seriously. I should be thankful that what was left of our big snow is finally starting to disappear. Ok enough about the weather ... on to the mittens!

If you've been reading this blog for a while, you might remember me "talking" about the evolution of our wood pile ... my mittens are gracing the outer edges of a fresh tower. DH (and with occasional "help" from the boys) has been moving wood, and moving wood, and moving wood ... DH likes to organize his wood piles kinda like I do my spice cabinet ... his is sorted according to 'seasoning' and mine is according to the alphabet ;-)

As you can see this wood is still very 'green'. And what does any of this have to do with the mittens I made you ask? Well ... I have discovered that I DO have a green thumb after all! See:

Ba da bum!

Ok - it's only half a green thumb but a gal's got to start somewhere ;-) So on to the details:
I used this pattern found here or Ravelry here. I made the mittens smaller to fit my hands better. Edits as follows:

G hook

Cuff: ch 12

Row 3 to 24 (vs row 3 to 27)

Row 27 is now Row 25

Main: Row 13 to 18 (vs 13 to 20)

Row 21 is now 19 - ect., last row is now 26 vs 28

I used Patons Soy Wool Stripes - Natural Earth.

The temps are heading back south now ... or do I mean north? It's getting colder so the mittens are ready for the cold steering wheel! Mm Mm ... I love mittens!

So this little heat wave is your fault! ;) Super cute mittens!!! Congrats on the green thumb...I might need to borrow it this spring!

I actually like stacking wood. My kids don't -- but I make them anyway. And you show me your green thumb come Spring. (Arranging my spice cabinet is a highlight for me some days -- and I thought I was the only one.)

I love the color combo.
Thanks for the link on your blog post!
They've been predicting a big snow storm here but I think we are just on the edge of it.
