Better To See You With

I might have mentioned here before that the ol' eyes ain't what they used to be. Reading glasses are a must these days (thankfully I can still get by with the drug store variety).

They are littered - ahem - strategically placed through out my house.

I had one problem though.

They were exposed.

Naked.

Available to curious dirty little hands.

Then I saw this amazing tutorial for a hexagon eye glass case yesterday on Sew, Mama, Sew!.

And then I had a good laugh.

Who am I kidding. I don't have time for hexagons. I need a quick craft fix; not a cut a gazillion little pieces, assemble a gazillion pieces, rip out a gazillion pieces (you know it's not a project for me if Jack, the seam ripper extraordinaire, doesn't see some action).

So I did it the Some of a Kind way.

I used her template but just used solid pieces of fabric.

I hit my scrap bin and went to town. Exterior fabric is from Amy Butler's Belle line. The interior is something I had picked up a Jo Ann's. I need to make a few more; I'm thinking patchwork.

I say fingerprints no more! After all ... better to see you with my dears.

Fabulous! I am right there with you when it comes to the drug store variety reading glasses...one in every room, one in my purse...etc! What a difference it makes though, being able to see! I knew it was time when I almost overdosed one of the kids because I couldn't see the dose chart on some medication! Then my handwork started being so much more enjoyable again! The better to see everything with, my dear!

Nice job....Unfortunately, I'm blind without my spectacles so they sit on my nose from the moment I get out of bed until lights out. No glasses cases for me. Finding fabrics in the old scrap bin is fun. I've been poking around in my stuffed basket and putting bits and pieces together. Have a nice weekend sewing away to your heart's content.

OMG! I saw that same thing and thought I would never make the time to do it. Why did I not think about doing it your way???

You did a fantastic job! I'm right with you on the simple sewing. There are reading glasses littering our house lately too, and it seems to be a topic of discussion quite a lot, but fortunately for me, it's my hubby who is leaving his glasses everywhere. He is much disgusted by the fact that he suddenly needs them. Poor baby!
