The Ties That Bind

It was over 3o years ago that my DH's grandfather bought this hammock. DH was with him and remembers it like it was yesterday.

DH's grandparents pulled this out on 'special occasions'. Lots of wonderful memories made on and around this hammock.

We've had it for some time now ... maybe 8 years ... we kept saying we needed to get a stand for it but kept putting it off. It's been hanging in our basement just waiting to have someone climb on and read a book, take a nap, or better yet, cuddle with little boys.

Now as I relax on Pop and G's hammock I think of them and how proud they would be of their only grandson. I run my hand across the rope where they once held him in their lap ... and smile for the ties that bind are still as strong as ever.

I love hammocks - just wish I had time to lay down on one for a full-on nap!

that is so sweet! a nice hammock under a breezy shade tree and a book sounds like a great place to be right now!

I need to dust off (and wash and rewash) our hammock. You've got me craving a relaxing afternoon lazing in the shade.
